Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 14, 2026

Woordly is a daily word guessing game. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how you can contact us about your data.

Information we collect

When you play Woordly, we may create an anonymous account so your puzzle progress, guesses, stats, streaks, and random puzzle state can be saved between visits. This gameplay data may include submitted guesses, guess counts, win or loss status, completion times, active random puzzle details, and revealed hints.

If you choose to sign in with Google or Discord, we receive basic account information from that provider, such as your name, email address, profile image, and provider account identifier. Our authentication system may also store session records, authentication tokens, IP address, user agent, and timestamps needed to keep you signed in and protect the service.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies and similar browser storage for authentication, anonymous play, session management, and site preferences. For example, Woordly stores your theme preference in local storage. If you clear cookies or local storage, some settings may reset and anonymous puzzle progress may no longer be connected to your browser.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • run Woordly and save your puzzle progress;
  • show your stats, streaks, and guess history;
  • support anonymous and signed-in play;
  • maintain security, prevent abuse, and debug problems;
  • respond to support requests.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not currently use ad tracking in Woordly.

Service providers

We use third-party services to host, operate, and authenticate Woordly. These may include infrastructure providers, database hosting, and sign-in providers such as Google and Discord. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to us or to you.

Data retention and deletion

We keep account, session, and gameplay data for as long as needed to operate Woordly, preserve your stats, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security. You may contact us at support@woordly.org to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with your Woordly account.

For signed-in accounts, we may ask you to contact us from the email connected to the account. For anonymous play, we may not be able to identify your data unless you can provide enough information to locate the anonymous account or session.

Children

Woordly is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will review the request.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No online service can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so please use care when choosing what information to share.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Woordly changes. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date on this page.
